Overall objective of project "SDG 2030 Local Monitor in Serbia" was to support implementation and monitoring of achievement of UN 2030 Agenda on the local level in Serbia.
Another objectives were to develop coherent framework methodology for monitoring of implementation of public policies related to SDGs 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 and 15 on the local level in Serbia and to conduct a pilot study that assessed the current state of the implementation of environmental, nature protection and climate change regulations related to the 2030 Agenda at the local level in Serbia.
The main activities on the project were:
- Devising a methodology for monitoring the fulfilment of selected SDGs by looking at the implementation of environmental and climate change regulations, relevant for the 2030 Agenda at the local level
- Conducting a pilot study on the level of implementation of environmental protection and climate change regulations in 2 cities and 2 municipalities in Serbia
- Drafting a research report and promotion of results in 5 major cities in Serbia, alongside “Coalition 27’s” Shadow Progress Report on chapter 27 in Serbia which significantly improved its visibility.
After the methodology has been developed and the pilot study has been conducted, groundwork was laid out for a nationwide study to be conducted. After results of the study were processed and evaluated, there is room for further actions that could tackle particular problems and help with the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.
The project was supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and it was implemented in the period of 1.7.2019. to 28.2.2021.
