The "I am Energy" project promotes energy management in Serbia and strengthens democratic governance by empowering the civil sector to take an active role in the decision-making process.
Through this project we aim to contribute to the decarbonisation in Serbia, as overall social transformation which implies transition towards sustainable and green energy and participative decision making processes.
Project supports EU integration process in Serbia and alignment with EU long term objectives for reduction of GHG emission, improvement of energy efficiency and further utilisation of renewable energy sources. CSOs, empowered to monitor implementation of EU acquis related to energy will become the force that makes EU integration process closer to citizens and keep public authorities accountable towards national and EU goals in energy, climate and environment.
The local community is at the heart of the project and it will boost bottom-up approach in decision making. Project strengthens the resilience of local communities to climate change and, by supporting participative decision making process, enables local communities to develop policy solutions according to their needs and potentials.
Objectives of the project are:
- Increasing the transparency and accountability of public authorities in the energy management process;
- Improving the role and strengthening the capacity of civil society in monitoring and advocacy in the fields of energy, climate, and the environment;
- Supporting economic development through lower carbon emissions by improving the energy efficiency policy at the local level.
The project is being implemented by the Belgrade Open School with the support of the Rockefeller Foundation.
