The project "Climate Change Policy on the Road to the EU - Guidelines for a Public Advocacy Campaign at the Local Level" is designed to assist the public and activists in meeting the challenges in decision making and implementation of energy policies.
The project supported Serbia's efforts in the EU accession process, advocating the implementation of commitments undertaken within the Energy Community and achieving 27% of its gross final energy consumption from renewable sources by 2020. The project contributed to the development of national policies in the field of climate change, as well as the development of a national climate and energy strategy in line with the political framework of the EU until 2030 in the field of climate and energy policy.
The goal of the project is:
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting transformation towards a low-carbon economy in the Republic of Serbia.
The specific objectives of the project are:
- Building support for civil society and citizenship in the region;
- Capacity building and capacity building of civil society organizations in the field of environment for social action that prevents the harmful effects of energy projects in Serbia, based on evidence and analysis of proposed projects;
- Improving the resilience of local communities to climate change and supporting sustainable and ecological development.
