With the involvement of the civil sector and the development of innovative, green and cost-effective energy production and consumption solutions, the project "Energy Transparency" has sought to improve the procedures and process of governance and decision-making in public institutions at the local level in the field of energy.
The project has developed mechanisms to monitor the decision-making process in the energy sector, especially in the field of energy production and consumption, based on energy balance analysis and capital investments. Through the project, a contribution has been made to the reduction of energy poverty and solutions that contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions have been supported.
The research team has analyzed the development of the energy balance in three municipalities, transparency in decision-making, the availability of data of public importance in the field of energy, as well as the sustainability of energy production and consumption. The team has made an analysis of capital investment strategies in the energy sector at the local level – the cost-effectiveness of projects in the district heating system and the improvement of energy efficiency, as well as the transparency of the work of public companies and public-private partnerships.
The project has been carried out in the territory of three selected municipalities: Vrbas, Priboj, and Trstenik.
The result of the project is the publication "Transparency of Energy Decision-Making at the Local Level".
