The overall goal of the project was to strengthen the role of civil society organizations in the process of adaptation to climate change and to enhance their capacities for active participation in the implementation of strategies, laws, and policies in the field of climate change and sustainable development in Serbia.
The specific objectives of the project have been:
- Improving the existing legal and policy framework for climate change adaptation by strengthening the capacities of 30 CSOs for their active participation in the policy-making process in the field of adaptation to climate change;
- Getting civil society organizations acquainted with the goals and recommendations of the First National Communication of the Republic of Serbia under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the EU White Paper – Adaptation to Climate Change: Towards a European Framework for Action;
- Proposing recommendations for local actors partnerships (CSOs, local authorities, business sector) in planning and modifying climate change policy in Serbia;
- Initiating the networking process among CSOs dealing with climate change at the local level in Serbia.
The target group of the project included civil society organizations active in the field of climate change and the environment that have the capacity to participate in decision-making processes and encourage the process of adaptation to climate change in local communities in Serbia.
The project has been realized through a one-day consulting workshop.
The project was implemented in Belgrade on March 21, 2012.
It was financially supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
