The project has aimed to improve the implementation of laws in the field of environmental protection and strengthen the dialogue between legislative and executive bodies and local self-governments. Additionally, the goal was to improve the cooperation of the National Assembly, the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, local authorities and stakeholders in the process of implementing environmental laws.
In the Serbia 2010 Progress Report, the European Commission stressed the need for further improvement of the work of the legislative body as well as the need for public consultation on the content and impact of draft legislation. Within the project, three conferences have been organized in three different cities in Serbia (Nis, Obrenovac, and Belgrade):
A conference on the implementation of the Law on Waste Management at the local level within the project was held in Nis on December 17, 2010;
A conference on the implementation of the Law on Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control in Obrenovac was held on December 22, 2010;
A conference on the implementation of the Law on Waste Management at the local level was held in Belgrade on December 23, 2010.
The project has been financially supported by Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
