The goal of the project "Energy Mix of the Open Balkans" was to investigate the possibilities and prerequisites for increased integration of the energy systems of Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania, especially in the area of renewable energy sources, which would facilitate easier management and balancing of these sources and reduce dependence on the import of electricity and fossil fuels. This initiative was implemented through research conducted by experts from the mentioned countries.
Achieved results:
- Research team was formed, composed of experts from Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia
- Research was conducted and regional concept prepared
- Stakeholders who were informed about the results of the analysis were mapped out (representatives of governments, civil society, business sector and academic community)
- Regional workshop was organized and held in Belgrade
- Possible steps for further actions or regional cooperation were defined
The project was implemented in period from August 2023 until the end of April 2024 with the support of the Open Society Foundation Serbia.
