During 2024, the Belgrade Open School implemented the project "Local Actors for Clean Energy and Air 2024," supported by the European Climate Foundation. The activities carried out within this project were actually a continuation of initiatives from previous years, and they were divided into two groups.
The first group of activities focused on air quality in Serbia, and within this group, the following actions were carried out:
- Support was provided to activists and civil society organization (CSO) representatives in their advocacy initiatives through consultations, training, and other forms of assistance.
- We continued expanding the network for citizen-based air quality monitoring and analyzing the collected data.
- We monitored and actively participated in the creation of relevant legal and sub-legal documents, while also actively following their implementation at both national and local levels.
The second group of activities was related to the process of decarbonization and a just energy transition. Within this group, the following actions took place:
- We analyzed the defined frameworks for a just transition at the local level.
- We strengthened local energy cooperatives and mapped potential communities where it would be possible to form an energy cooperative.
The project activities began in December 2023 and continued until December 2024.
